Rently Card vs Rently FPS: fees, miles, and net yield

Platform rates verified Oct 2026

Rently offers two rails for the same rent. Rently FPS pays your landlord from your bank and earns HeyMax Max Miles on base rent. Rently Card charges a card, earns Standard Chartered Cathay Asia Miles on the gross charge, and adds Max Miles on base rent. The card fee is higher.

This page is for renters who already have Rently in mind and need to choose the rail, or the FPS tier, before the first payment. KeyChain Pay and RentSmart are a separate choice. They are covered in KeyChain Pay vs RentSmart vs Rently: fees, miles, and net yield.

Estimates only — not financial advice. Confirm the live fee in the Rently app before you pay. Rates on renttomiles were verified Oct 2026 and can change. This guide does not name an overall winner. Tables below leave the launch promo off unless a section says otherwise.

Fees and earn rates move. The percentages below are the ones modeled on renttomiles as of Oct 2026. Rently publishes its own schedule — confirm in the app before you pay.

Rently FPS and Rently Card: how you pay, service fee, miles currency, and when each path fits
Path How you pay Service fee Miles Best suited if
Rently FPS Bank transfer (FPS) Tiered. Premium, the calculator default, is 2.3%. Basic 0.4%, Standard 1.3%. HeyMax Max Miles on base rent You prefer a bank transfer, or Max Miles without a miles card.
Rently Card Credit card (modeled Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard) 2.8% Asia Miles on the gross charge (HK$6 = 1) plus Max Miles on base rent (HK$12 = 1 with promo off) You want both stacks and accept the higher card fee.

How to decide

Bank transfer or card. FPS settles from your bank. There is no miles-card earn on that rail. Card puts the rent on a credit card. In this model the Asia Miles come from the Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard. If you will not use that card, FPS is the Rently path that still earns Max Miles.

Fee versus miles. Fee cost per mile is a year of platform fees divided by estimated miles. Lower is better. Estimated net yield values those miles at HK$0.10 each — a comparison assumption for saver-ticket value, not cash paid to you and not a bank rate — then subtracts a year of fees. A high fee can wipe out a higher mile total. At the homepage default, the Rently Card column can go negative on base rates. Formulas are on the comparison methodology. The fee cost per mile and estimated net yield guide walks through both columns with a worked rent.

Which FPS tier. Basic is the lowest fee and the fewest miles (HK$20 = 1 with promo off). Standard sits in the middle (HK$6 = 1). Premium is what the calculator opens on (HK$4 = 1) and earns the most Max Miles of the three base rates, at the highest FPS fee. More miles is not the same thing as a higher estimated net yield. Switch the tier on the calculator for your own rent.

Launch promo. Rently’s first-288 signup cohort can use launch earn rates for up to 12 months of the tenancy. The calculator toggle is off unless you turn it on. Compare the promo table on this page only if you are in that cohort. Everyone else should use the promo-off numbers.

Miles currency. FPS miles in this model are HeyMax Max Miles on base rent. Card miles are two balances added into one estimated total: Cathay Asia Miles on the gross charge, plus Max Miles on base rent. They are not the same balance until a transfer. HeyMax’s help centre describes transfers from Max Miles to Cathay Asia Miles. Partners and windows can change. Welcome steps for a HeyMax account are in HeyMax × Rently on the homepage. This page does not list a signup code.

Worked example at HK$10,000 monthly rent

Same assumptions as the live calculator with the launch promo off: miles valued at HK$0.10. HK$0.10 per mile is a comparison assumption for saver-ticket value. It is not cash paid to you and not a bank rate. As shown on renttomiles, rates verified Oct 2026. Open the rent-to-miles calculator at HK$10,000 to change the rent or the FPS tier.

HK$10,000 monthly rent, launch promo off: Rently Card and Rently FPS Basic, Standard, and Premium
Path Service fee / month Est. miles / year Fee cost / mile Est. net yield / year
Rently Card HK$280 30,560 HK$0.110 −HK$304
Rently FPS (Basic) HK$40 6,000 HK$0.080 HK$120
Rently FPS (Standard) HK$130 20,000 HK$0.078 HK$440
Rently FPS (Premium) HK$230 30,000 HK$0.092 HK$240

Premium is the default FPS column on the homepage (30,000 miles, HK$240 estimated net yield, fee cost per mile HK$0.092). Standard’s base-rate net yield at this rent is HK$440, on 20,000 miles, with fee cost per mile HK$0.078. Basic is the cheapest monthly fee (HK$40) and the fewest miles (6,000).

Card’s mile total (30,560) is close to Premium FPS (30,000). The card fee is what pulls Card’s estimated net yield to −HK$304 on these base rates. More miles than an FPS tier does not mean a better result after fees.

Those comparisons are for HK$10,000 with promo off. A different rent or a different tier can move them. The homepage badges still compare four platforms with FPS on the tier you select. They do not select an overall winner inside this table.

Rently FPS tiers

FPS miles are counted on base rent, not on rent plus fee. With the launch promo off, Basic earns at HK$20 = 1 Max Mile, Standard at HK$6 = 1, and Premium at HK$4 = 1. The fees are 0.4%, 1.3%, and 2.3%.

Pick the tier from the fee you will actually pay and from fee cost per mile, not from the mile total alone. At HK$10,000, Standard’s fee cost per mile (HK$0.078) is lower than Premium’s (HK$0.092) even though Premium earns more miles. Basic’s fee is the smallest monthly amount and its earn rate is the widest gap per mile.

You do not need a Standard Chartered Cathay card for this rail. If that card is the reason you are looking at Rently, read the Card section next — and the four-path guide if KeyChain Pay or RentSmart is still in the running.

Rently Card

Rently Card is a dual stack. The model adds Standard Chartered Cathay Asia Miles on the gross charge (HK$6 = 1) to HeyMax Max Miles on base rent. With the launch promo off, HeyMax is HK$12 = 1 Max Mile. The service fee is 2.8%. At HK$10,000 the fee is HK$280 a month, estimated miles are 30,560, fee cost per mile is HK$0.110, and estimated net yield is −HK$304.

On those base rates the year of fees is larger than the HK$0.10 mile value, so estimated net yield is negative. The Cathay leg is what the card adds on top of Max Miles. It does not, by itself, make the fee worthwhile.

The Cathay category rates for dining, hotels, and overseas spend are a different schedule from this rent rail. Read the current terms on Standard Chartered’s Cathay Mastercard page and on Rently before you pay.

Launch promo, first 288 only

Use this table only if you are in Rently’s first 288 signups cohort. The calculator’s launch-promo toggle is off unless you turn it on. Launch earn rates apply for up to 12 months of the tenancy. The service-fee percentages stay the same. Only the miles per dollar change.

With the toggle on, Card’s HeyMax leg moves from HK$12 = 1 to HK$6 = 1. The Cathay leg stays HK$6 = 1. FPS Basic moves from HK$20 = 1 to HK$18 = 1, Standard from HK$6 = 1 to HK$4.5 = 1, and Premium from HK$4 = 1 to HK$2.5 = 1.

HK$10,000 monthly rent with the Rently launch promo on, for the first 288 signups cohort only
Path (promo on) Service fee / month Est. miles / year Fee cost / mile Est. net yield / year
Rently Card HK$280 40,560 HK$0.083 HK$696
Rently FPS (Basic) HK$40 6,667 HK$0.072 HK$187
Rently FPS (Standard) HK$130 26,667 HK$0.058 HK$1,107
Rently FPS (Premium) HK$230 48,000 HK$0.058 HK$2,040

At HK$10,000 with the promo on, Card shows 40,560 estimated miles and HK$696 estimated net yield. Premium FPS shows 48,000 miles and HK$2,040. Leave this table out if the cohort does not apply to you. A welcome or referral code does not put you in the cohort, and it does not change these figures.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing launch-promo miles when you are not in the first 288.
  • Counting miles and ignoring the fee, so Card’s higher total looks better after a negative estimated net yield.
  • Treating Premium as the FPS tier to use because the calculator opens on it.
  • Assuming FPS requires a Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard. It does not.
  • Treating a referral code as if it changed the calculator. It does not. Fees, miles, fee cost per mile, and estimated net yield stay on the published rates.
  • Copying an older fee table without checking the 2026 app and the rates line on renttomiles.

Frequently asked questions

What is Rently Card vs Rently FPS?
Rently Card and Rently FPS are two ways to pay Hong Kong rent through Rently. Card is modeled at 2.8% and stacks Standard Chartered Cathay Asia Miles on the gross charge with HeyMax Max Miles on base rent. FPS pays from your bank on Basic, Standard, and Premium tiers and earns Max Miles on base rent. This page compares fees, estimated miles, fee cost per mile, and estimated net yield. renttomiles does not pick an overall winner.
When should I use Rently FPS instead of Rently Card?
FPS fits when you pay from your bank, or when you will not put rent on a Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard. Card fits when you want that Asia Miles stack as well as Max Miles and you accept the 2.8% fee. Read fee cost per mile and estimated net yield for your own rent. A lower fee or a higher mile total is one metric, not an overall winner.
What are the Rently FPS Basic, Standard, and Premium fees?
In the Oct 2026 model, Basic is 0.4%, Standard is 1.3%, and Premium is 2.3%. The calculator opens on Premium. Rently Card is 2.8%. At HK$10,000 a month with the launch promo off, those monthly fees are HK$40, HK$130, HK$230, and HK$280. Confirm the live fee in the Rently app before you pay.
Does the Rently launch promo apply to everyone?
No. The default tables on this page and on the calculator leave the launch promo off. Turn it on only if you are in the first 288 signups cohort. It applies launch earn rates for up to 12 months of the tenancy. It does not change the service-fee percentages in the model. If you are not in the cohort, use the promo-off table.
Does a higher Rently Card mile total mean a better result after fees?
Not by itself. At HK$10,000 a month with the launch promo off, Rently Card shows 30,560 estimated miles, fee cost per mile HK$0.110, and estimated net yield −HK$304. Rently FPS Premium shows 30,000 estimated miles, fee cost per mile HK$0.092, and estimated net yield HK$240. Estimated net yield values miles at HK$0.10 each, then subtracts a year of fees. HK$0.10 per mile is a comparison assumption, not cash paid to you.
Do I need a miles credit card for Rently FPS?
No. Rently FPS earns HeyMax Max Miles on base rent from a bank transfer. The Card path’s Asia Miles in this model come from the Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard. HeyMax’s help centre describes transfers from Max Miles to Cathay Asia Miles; partners and windows can change.
Does renttomiles process my rent?
No. renttomiles is an independent calculator only. It does not process rent payments or give financial advice.
